Industry giants register interest in Buenos Aires iGaming licenses

Some of the industry’s leading operators and suppliers have registered their interest in securing licenses to launch online gambling in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province, including The Stars Group, William Hill and Paddy Power Betfair.

Last month Buenos Aires became the first province in Argentina to regulate online gambling following the implementation of a decree approved last year, with licensing set to begin next month.

With regulations overseen by the Buenos Aires Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC), the legislation covers online sports betting, casino games, poker, and horse race betting, with seven licenses available.

The IPLyC has confirmed that a number of the industry’s leading iGaming operators and suppliers have teamed up with local partners for licensure.

The Stars Group’s Stars Interactive has joined forces with Atlantica De Juegos, while William Hill has partnered ArgenBingo.

Paddy Power Betfair will work with Bingo Pilar, while Playtech has partnered Hotel Casino Tandil and Intralot will join forces with BinBaires. Two other operators, Biyemas and Slots Machines, have also registered an interest.

The licensing process in Buenos Aires requires interested parties to register their interest in licensure prior to the opening of license applications on June 25th.
